Public Works Department

New Sweeper placed in service

The Town of Easton Public Works Department recently took delivery of a 2014 TYMCO sweeper. The unit is mounted on a Freightliner chassis and is a 600 series Regenerative Air Sweeper. The sweeper system is powered by a John Deere diesel engine. The new sweeper replaces a 2001 unit and was purchased from Mid Atlantic Waste for a cost of $199,953.00. The unit was placed in service on July 2, 2014.

The Mayor and Council have also approved to include funds to purchase an additional sweeper in the 2015 Fiscal Year budget. It is the goal of the Town of Easton Public Works Department to eventually operate two sweepers daily. The Town of Easton has grown approximately 40 percent in size since 1990 and this has made it a challenge to successfully sweep the entire town within a reasonable time frame. With an additional sweeper, in operation on a daily basis, it will increase the amount of times per year that each of our town streets will be swept. The sweeper not only helps keep our town streets clean in appearance but also reduces the amount of pollutants that enter into our waterways.
