The Town of Easton Big Box Proposal
Dear Town Council Members,
I have wrote many letters to the Easton Star Democrat and others concerning the traffic problem Easton Commons will cause if allowed to build in such a high residential area. If you travel to the new Salisbury Commons built by the same developer, you will see several large business located in the area, NO HOUSING CLOSE BY AT ALL, AND NO SMALL COUNTRY ROADS TO ENTER OR EXIT FROM. Now carry this down in your memory to the Salisbury Mall just past this, on US 13. The same scenerio, then travel to Stevensville US Route 50 MD. They have a large over pass and also a road that you do not enter at all from route 50 to get into the new K-Mart area, same thing no local residents, no country roads. Dover Mall US Rte 13 again, same idea no Blackdog Alley roads, no housing developments, easy access off of Rte 13. The list is endless, the town will look ridiculous with this Commons Mall placed in front of Chapel Fast housing development, in front of the Sports Complex field, across the street from some very old Chapel East town side residents. I live on Blackdog Alley, I am very concerned about how I will get to and from work at Black & Decker, how will I get home at 4:00 rush hour with a mall. I have been involved in an auto accident on Chapel Road I Rte 50, I totaled my car, and had a four month baby with me. I never want to face this kind of tragedy again. THIS IS A BAD ROAD. THIS NEEDS TO BE CONSIDERED VERY SERIUOSLY BEFORE PETRIE AND CREW ARE ALLOWED TO RUIN WHAT WE NOW HAVE. MY LETTERS NEVER SEEM TO STOP, WHY, BECAUSE OF THE FIRST DAY IT CAME OUT IN THE STAR DEMOCRAT ABOUT A POSSIBLE MALL, I FEEL IN MY HEART MANY LIVES WILL BE LOST BECAUSE OF THIS UNTHOUGHTFULLNESS BEING DONE BY THE GANNON FAMILY.
I was glad to see in the Sunday paper that some consideration is being given for a Home product store across the street where I work. It has great potential, and I am all for it, it's a great location, no housing, no small roads. I feel Glebe Road is more than able to handle traffic, as far as B & D shift changes it would only be one change effecting the store. The four o'clock shift. Midnight shift the store is closed, the 7:30 8:00 shift the store would be closed. I love to hear about new stores coming to the area, but not on top of 400 houses at Chapel East development, and my 200 foot county road. I want to add one more comment, I have a sister who bought her house at Chapel East, when it was purchased they were told that someday behind her house there was a possiblity of Chapel East II, and if that would bother her to in the future to have a house in the back row facing US Route 50 with more homes. Of course she said no. No one ever considered more than a gas station there, or maybe new houses, the Chapel East II. Keep this in mind when the pressure is put on from these out of town developers.
Easton has been on the right track for years on strip malls, please don't let us down now.
Sincerely,
Patricia Zweemer
