Town Council of Easton (Hand Delivered)

 RE: "Big Box" Issue

SOME THOUGHTS;

-Has Easton realized all the effects, both good and bad, from the growth explosion of the last ten years? Has anyone examined the damage?

-Why is Easton willing to invest in new commercial projects when there are so many under-funded projects out there?

-Can Easton's staff handle the proposed commercial development Explosion?

-Why do some of our councilmen think "tweaking" the existing ordinances are going to make them go away?

-Can we simply change the wording in the planning and zoning ordinances from "permitted" to "prohibited"?

-Why is a grocery store or movie theater considered a "Big Box"?

FINAL THOUGHTS

Easton has one opportunity to make a very Historic Decision. Why can't we be a National pilot program for what a small town can be, instead of, buckling under to the common, monotonous, Humdrum undistinguished, run of the mill, second rate approach the commercial Developers have planned for us?

                                                                                                                        Sincerely,

                                                                                                                        W. L Westphal

                                                                                                                         President
