This Talbot County resident - soon to be (Nov. 15th) Town of Easton
resident - is opposed to retail development on the scale of that proposed
for the so-called "Home Depot Big Box".
This is not needed and cannot be supported by our current regional
population size. Commercial development should be sized to the anticipated
market. PKP, Home depot, et. al. will not hesitate to leave a market that
will not support their operation - leaving Easton with empty buildings and
an inflated infra structure with an insufficient tax base.
Economics aside, does anyone really want the north edge of Easton to
resemble North Salisbury Boulevard - or Glen Burnie - or any of the many
"small" towns in Northern Virginia which have benefited from the "vision' of
PKP. I think not! Personally, I am happy to shop locally and make an
infrequent shopping trip to Annapolis, Dover, or Salisbury when absolutely
necessary.
