Dear Council Members,

I am writing to voice my opposition to future 'Big Box" retail development for Easton. In response to your outline of issues, I do not feel that big box retail is necessary for the town's future needs. We are at a crossroads where the people of this town and Talbot County are voicing their options about where they want to see this town go in the near future and it seems to me to be a resounding vote for retaining the values and small town amenities and cIrarm that have always characterized this area. This does not include big box retailing. Along with what some may see as an economic boost for the area come the expense of roads, infrastructure, maintenance, services and congestion which are borne by the local taxpayers. I do not see this as a win-win situation There has been substantial growth over the past 5-10 years which I do not frel that we have as yet adequately absorbed.

All in all, I feel very strongly that big box does not fit into this area either environmentally, architecturally, aesthetically or economically. I am proud of your work and attention to this very serious matter in determining the future of our area I am a many generation native and I want to see the very nature and history of this great area remain just that so that my children will enjoy life in a small town too.

Sincerely,

Nancy Trippe Cutts
