
Lt. Gregory S. Wright began his career with the Easton Police Department in September 1987. He spent the first seven years within the Patrol Division. In 1989 Lt. Wright began to receive a great amount of specialized training in the field of evidence collection. Lt. Wright later created the Department’s Evidence Collection Unit, which currently consists of five investigators and a supervisor. Lt. Wright remained an active member with this unit until 2002. In 1993, Lt. Wright was promoted to Corporal and assistant squad supervisor. In 1995, Lt. Wright was transferred and became the supervisor of the Community Oriented Policing Patrol-Bicycle Patrol, which was later reorganized as the Community Outreach Unit. There he was responsible for both the completion and supervision of all crime prevention efforts, quality of life issues, special events planning and coordination, and was a member of many special interest committees. During 1997, the Town of Easton committed to the Maryland HotSpots Initiative under the supervision of Lt. Wright. In 2002, Lt. Wright was promoted to his current rank and re-assigned as a Night Commander and assistant to the Patrol Commander. On July 30, 2004, Lt. Wright was named Commander of the Patrol Division where he oversees all of the department’s patrol functions and enforcement. In addition to the assigned responsibilities, Lt. Wright is credited with the design of two previous paint schemes of the patrol cars and the design of the current shoulder patch. In 1990, Lt. Wright created and co-organized the department’s annual Christmas Toy Drive, a program still successful today. Throughout Lt. Wright’s career, he has received many awards and commendations, including “Officer of the Year” in 1999. Lt. Wright is an active member of the FBI Law Enforcement Executive Development Association. Lt. Wright is a graduate of the Northwestern School of Police Staff Training.
