K-9 FLEX

K-9 flex was purchased by the Easton Police Department from Tar Heel Canine in Sanford, NC in June of 2007. K-9 FLEX is a German Shepard from the Czech Republic. K-9 Flex is trained to detect 5 different odors of narcotics, and also trained in patrol duties such as tracking, building searches, locating missing or lost people and handler protection.

Since his deployment as a Police K-9 he has assisted in making numerous arrests for violations of Maryland's Controlled Dangerous Substance laws, and has assisted all law enforcement agencies in Talbot County conduct narcotic scans, tracking and building searches. K-9 Flex has assisted in the seizure of over $47,000 in US Currency dating from 2007 through 2008.

K-9 Rusty is a Belgian Malinois, born in the Netherlands on 01/03/01. K-9 Rusty was exported to the United States and started working for Federalsburg Police Department. K-9 Rusty has received the Ocean City Police Departments Certification of training, successfully completing a course of instruction in K-9 Patrol and Narcotics. K-9 Rusty successfully completed his certification with North American Police Work Dog Association (NAPWDA), and Virginia Police Work Dog Association. K-9 Rusty came to Easton Police Department in November of 2005. K-9 Rusty is certified in Narcotic detection and Patrol functions. Patrol functions consisting of building search, crowd control, article search and tracking. K-9 Rusty trains monthly with the Annapolis Police Departments K-9 trainers.

The handler for K-9 Rusty is PFC. Robert Bayliss, who has completed a 14 week K-9 program with Baltimore County Police Department and was trained as a K-9 handler for Patrol and Explosive Detection. 

PFC. Bayliss is currently a certified K-9 handler, through the National Law Enforcement Canine Organization, and is certified in Police K-9 behavior and decoy techniques through NAPWDA. Bayliss has completed interdiction training through the Multi-jurisdictional Counter Task Force and Regional Community Policing Institute and is also a certified Methamphetamines lab investigator through MCTF. I am a certifying official with NLECO. K-9 Rusty is certified in the detection of marihuana, cocaine, heroin and methamphetamines. Pfc. Bayliss and  K-9 Rusty have assisted the law enforcement agencies within Talbot County in making numerous scans of vehicles, building searches and assisting in the recovery of Controlled Dangerous Substances and US Currency.
