TOWN OF EASTON, MARYLAND
Fire Board Meeting
March 24, 2008

Department Board of Trustees present were Messrs. Phil Marshall, Rick Stacey,
Tim Knotts and Ken Bush. Various Easton Fire Department members at large were
also present.
At 7:00 p.m., the President of the Council called the meeting to order at the Easton Volunteer Fire Department Station 60.
MEETING
Chief Jensen discussed the bicentennial plans for the Department’s 200th Anniversary. He stated that a parade is scheduled for April 19 at 3:00 p.m. with a celebration to follow at Station 60. Chief Jensen stated that the Council will be at the front of the parade and will have the opportunity to exit their vehicles in case they prefer to watch the parade. There will be antique cars for the elected officials with a block party to follow at the station with the band Great Train Robbery.
Mr. Les chance discussed the Opticons in town and on Teal Road and Dover. He stated that some have never been installed and some need repairs.
Chief Jensen discussed automatic alarms. He stated that he will report on the numbers in comparison to last year’s alarms.
Discussion occurred regarding the purchase of Engine 64.
Upon motion from Mr. Jensen seconded by Mr. Wendowski and carried, approval was granted for the Fire Department to purchase Engine 64 from the Town of Easton.
Chief Jensen stated that they used the new engine today and the special foam tank. He stated that it will be the first due at a scene with the rescue truck is called out. He discussed the use of foam for fires with ethanol.
The sprinkler ordinance and larger address signs for neighborhoods were discussed in neighborhoods such as Cooke’s Hope.
Mr. Les Chance asked for an update on the roof contract. Mayor Willey stated that he will look to see where that stands.
Discussion occurred regarding a meeting between Mayor Willey and the county regarding paid fire personnel. A committee will be set up to look at the issue and the response time. Chief Jensen stated that it is a long term planning issue.
Mr. Tim Knotts reminded those present about the dedication of the engine and two stations scheduled for April 6.

At 7:25 p.m., upon motion by Mr. Jensen seconded by Mr. Ford and carried unanimously, the meeting was adjourned.
