Police Board Meeting

Also in attendance were Town Manager Robert Karge, Chief Blue, Major Spencer, Building Codes Official Mr. Don Richardson and Town Clerk Mrs. Ruf. Mr. Keith P. Fisher, AIA Associate and Mr. Ernest W. Olds, AIA Principal from Becker Morgan were also present.
Ms. Scott-Taylor was excused.
At 6:25 p.m., the President of the Council called the meeting to order.
MEETING
Chief Blue discussed different scenarios for additions/renovations to the existing Police Department.
Mr. Fisher from Becker Morgan discussed a one-store versus a two-story addition to the Police Department building. He recommended a one floor scheme with a 13,479 foot addition. He stated that there was an allowance of 7% for furniture and fixtures. Mr. Fisher stated that the building should have a 20 year life expectancy.
Ms. Jackson-Amis asked for more documentation.
Chief Blue explained the new uses of the proposed renovation.
Discussion occurred regarding the location of seized vehicles in the future.
Chief Blue asked for Council consensus to proceed with design and development of the proposed building. He stated that it is the next step in the process.
Mr. Richardson explained that Becker Morgan’s contract was for full services and should cover the next scope of the project.
Mr. Fisher stated that if all goes as planned, the bid process should occur the end of spring.
Mayor Willey stated that there are things down the road that need to be addressed.
At 6:59 p.m., Mr. Jensen arrived.
It was the consensus of the Council to move forward as proposed.
ADJOURNMENT
At 7:02 p.m., the President of the Council adjourned the Police Board meeting.
