Fire Board Meeting
August 20, 2007
Also in attendance were Messer’s Mike Newnam, President; Tim Knotts, Jim Fike, Phil Marshall, Ken Bush, Barry Slaughter, Russell Miles, Chief Drew Jensen from Easton Volunteer Fire Department and Town Clerk Mrs. Kathy Ruf.
At 6:21 p.m., the President of the Council called the meeting to order.
MEETING
Discussion occurred regarding residential sprinkler fire systems. Chief Jensen stated that there are no reported fatalities in the state with residences that were equipped with sprinkler systems. Denton and St. Michaels have adopted legislation regarding residential sprinkler systems. Discussion occurred regarding the recent fire at the Fitzgerald home in St. Michaels.
Ms. Scott-Taylor arrived at 6:24 p.m.
Members of the Fire Department requested standard street signs with 4” reflective lettering to help Easton Police Department, Emergency Medical System and Easton Volunteer Fire Department. It is a challenge to read the numbers on the houses and uniform reflective lettering will be a benefit to emergency entities.
Discussion occurred regarding roads in Bretridge and cars parking on both sides.
Mr. Slaughter discussed the 26’ roads and stated that it is not an ideal situation but vehicles can pass with parking on both sides. He stated that he can get a snow plow down the streets so he thought it probably that residences vehicles could pass as well. Mr. Slaughter stated that allowing vehicles to park on both sides of the street is used for a traffic calming measure to slow vehicles.
Mr. Jensen arrived at 6:44 p.m.
There has been no update on the new engine.

The President of the Council adjourned the Fire Board meeting at 6:45 p.m.
