Also in attendance were the Town Manager Mr. Karge, Finance Officer Mrs. Callahan and Town Clerk Mrs. Ruf.

 

CONVENING

 

At 6:00 p.m., the President of the Council, Mr. Ford called the meeting to order.

 

Mayor Willey was excused.

 

Easton Police Department

 

Chief Blue and Major Spencer were present to discuss the Easton Police Department’s budget requests. The Town Manager advised that $23,000 in overtime had been cut from the patrol division. Salaries and starting pay were discussed. The Department is requesting five new hires for the communications department and two patrol officers. The communications department intends to be the backup for Talbot Center. There is 6.5 million dollars in the budget for the addition to the police building.

 

Economic Development

 

At 7:00 p.m., Mr. Bond was present to discuss the Economic Development budget. He discussed hiring an Events Coordinator Mr. Bond discussed the Avalon Foundation’s Financial Statement.

 

Finance Officer

 

At 8:10 p.m., Mr. Karge discussed Department 1050 and 1020. He stated that the Town office is down two people. Mr. Karge stated that the budget was 12 million short of real revenue and that 100% of all the capital requests are borrowed. Mr. Karge discussed increases in salaries. The balanced budget reflects a $.06 tax increase on real estate tax base.

 

ADJOURNMENT

 

The President of the Council adjourned the regularly scheduled meeting at 9:12 p.m.
