Fire Board Meeting
November 20, 2006

Also in attendance were Town Clerk Robert F. Karge, Sr., Messer’s Mike Newnam, Larry Fike, Phil Marshall and Barry Slaughter.
At 6:20 p.m., the President of the Council called the meeting to order.
MEETING
Mr. Newnam discussed Workman’s Compensation for the Auxiliary.
The Town Clerk, Mr. Karge stated that the carrier would only cover the volunteers that are emergency responders.
Mr. Newnam discussed liability coverage.
Mr. Karge was directed to research the coverage.
Workmen’s Compensation bills were discussed.
Mr. Newnam stated that when the new year arrives and new officers are in place, the Fire Department would like to meet with Town officials to review procedures and how the Town would like things accomplished.
Discussion occurred regarding membership recruiting efforts. Current membership is presently at 86 including life members.
Mr. Jensen asked if false alarm offenders should be fined.
Discussion occurred regarding the need for a paid fire department within 20 years.
Mr. Marhshall stated that The County Association is working on residential sprinkler systems with the Fire Marshal’s office for new constructions and significant renovations.
Mr. Karge was directed to get the False Alarm Ordinance from the County Manager’s office.

The President of the Council adjourned the Fire Board meeting at 6:55 p.m.
