SPECIAL MEETING
August 11, 1997
The Town Council of the Town of Easton met today at 6:30 P.M. at the Easton Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. The meeting was called to order by the President with the following members present: Mr. Mayer, Mr. Ford and Mrs. Clem. Also attending the meeting were the Mayor, Chief of Police and Town Attorney.
The President of the Council stated that this is a work session to discuss the proposed Talbot County Liquor Ordinance. The County Council requires a letter by August 15 with issues and concerns from the Town Council. The President of the Council discussed various concerns as did the Council members.
The Town Attorney briefed the Council on Talbot County's exceptions to the State Law. The consensus of the Council was to send a letter to Talbot County Council. The major concerns were: off premises delivery and possible ways the Town could control liquor licensing through the use of zoning ordinances, etcetera. Hours of operation were also a major concern as were the number of licenses issued. Various members of the audience offered their comments. These were to be incorporated in the letter as well.
The meeting was adjourned at 7:00 P.M.
